Role Play or Drama

I have just finished joining a teaching training in English Village, a small village in East Java, Indonesia, for two months. I had also opportunity to teach there, for about three weeks on holly day program. Wow, I taught the elementary, junior and senior high school students.

Really, the hard one is teaching kindergarten and elementary students. If I asked them about their purposes come to English Village, most of them said wanted to have fun on their holly day. So, they asked me to play. I had to be patient; facing their cute face which made me laugh and forgot my teaching material. I thought, what should I do just be their friends and handling them, not let them do what they want freely.

From the first experience, I got idea to make learning be more interesting for students here. They like song, they like playing role, they like game. So that, I tried to make some dialogue then to be used as dialogue on role play activities. Here they are:  

*These have not been done yet, still need improvement. But, I want to share the idea, and if you find the mistake on them, you can change it before you use it as teaching media.

Head Master

Dimun and Fural was in the canteen, eating meat ball. Suddenly Sudam came up to them.

Sudam: I have  a new book, Boys.

Dimun:  Wow ...! a book lover.

Fural:    What book, Sir?

Sudam: About how to be a good head master

Dimun:  Hahahahahaa....!!

Sudam: Why?! That's my dream, Guys.

Fural:    Okay, head master. But you have to read one hundred book everyday

Dimun:  And, don't eat much meat ball

Sudam: (breathing)

Fural:    If you wanna be a head master, Try to come to seven well, seven long river, and eat seven coconut, 

             seven chickens, cake seven color. Trust me, you will be a head master, directly.

Sudam: I'll make this school as the heaven of my students

Fural:    So, there will be many angels here?

Dimun:  Give me one.

The bell ring. 


Healthy Food
Doni and Ina went to canteen. Both are :students of elementary school.

Doni:   I want that snack. (Pointed to a snack)

Seller: (give him the snack)

Doni:  You want it too?

Ina:     No. My mom said ...

Doni:  Said what?

Ina:    (Shook her head) I'll tell you later.

They went back to class.

Doni: What's your mother said? (while walking)

Ina:    Junck food is not good for our health

Doni: Why? What is junk food?

Ina:    Junk food means a rubbish food

Doni: You mean this snack?

Ina:    (nodded)

Doni: You mean ... My stomach is full of rubbish?

Ina:   What do you think?


Saving Money
Dukin and Mindur are the students of elementary school. They are in the fourth grade

Dukim: What's that?

Mindur: Can you read the sentence? ('Put your money here' is written on his beg)

Dukin: Put your money in your beg?

Mindur: Right! We have to save our money

Dukin: What for?

Mindur: I have a dream to go around the world several years later.

Dukin: Haaaahh....!! how much do you need?

Mindur: Very much (while looked at the sky)

Dukin: Two million?

Mindur: Mmm... may be

Dukin: You must speak many languages.

Mindur: No. All people over the world learn English

Dukin: Can you speak English?

Mindur: I plan to take course

Dukin: Hmm... Great!


He Is The Same As Me
Two boys were walking to foot ball field to do exercise with their friends.

Rama: Hurry up! Hurry up!

Rondi: Wait! Wait!

Rama: Hey! come on! we're late!

Rondi: (Stopped. He saw someone fell down from the banana fruit)

Rama: (Stopped too) You will get punishment!

Rondi: He need our help.

Rama: We must be late!

Rondi: Up to you! go ahead! I don't care.


Book Lover
Breaking time in front of library.

Ramdani:      (comming)

Surahman:    Hi..., Book lover, the clever boy, the reminder, and der der der

Ucol:            Hahahahahaha...

Ramdani:      I have a new book, Guys.

Surahmi:       Wow, so nice. I am hungry.

Ucol:            I need your advice, Professor

Ramdani:      (Staring at them silently)

Ucol:            I heard that you wanna be a head master, Mister. Is that true?

Ramdani:      Hhhm... Listen, if I am a head master, I'll make this school as a heaven of the student.

Surahman:    So there will be many angels here

Ucol:           Wonderful.

Ramdani:     (Breathing)
